Grant hill and barrio logan neighborhoods San Diego

Saturday morning sdbc is hosting the barrio logan grand prix. I'd like to ride to the start site as my warm up. my race starts at 715am. My question is, is it safe to ride through these neighborhoods? I'd be coming from university heights so google maps says to take florida to 28th and go south which passes through these parts. I'd like to ride to the start site, but not sure if it is better to just drive down and bring a trainer. thanks!

I took a long ride through that area a few years ago. Beautiful place it is. Seemed perfectly safe to me.

At that hour the only people who could potentially give you grief are asleep. I'm an assistant referee at the race, so I'll see you on the line. Good luck and have a safe race!

Plus whenever there are events down there it seems that all of SDPD is working overtime. You have nothing to worry about. All the "creeper" come out at night anyways.
