Unbelievable! Why would anyone shell out big bucks for a "crabon fibre" racing machine and then complain about clothing designed to make a ride on said machine faster and more comfortable?

Hahaha--you're new to Cervelo4me's whine cellar I take it? Nothing escapes his exacting, nit-picking eye.

...bike shorts turn into g stings? I am new to cycling and ride an entry level bike with the cheapest set of shorts and jersey I can find, but I have never been able to get them to turn into a g string. Then again I never complain about the little things and I thought 'whine cellar' was a great and insightful view on your threads/responses. Also if your shorts are turning into a g string at mile 6 you should probably pick up the pace and finish sooner to avoid such dilemmas.

@OP,
I definitely agree. As of now I WILL NEVER wear those super tight cycling shorts. Never! Before I even considered cycling, I used to think "ew bike guys, gross." What with their tights and super bright colors. Of course this was before I knew the joy of cycling. And the must visibility.

I consider something like this, just never the super tights. Still grosses me out.

Fresh Garbage
I could care less if others find tights disturbing. They make riding more comfortable and that is all that matters to me
When I was a rower I would walk around the marina with even less on my body, so it's all good.

Form vs Function is what it boils down to. It's what works best, not what looks best. If it was, do you think cyclists would wear some of the most ungodly and down right ugly jerseys ever seen? I mean color coordination, patterns etc, all designed to get someone to look at you, and for me, thats fine, I want every driver behind the wheel of a car to see me and not hit me. As for the OPs topic of shorts. A couple of functions that cycling shorts do is keep saddle sores to a minimum. Anytime there is a seam, material fold or overlap, you have a spot ripe for irritation and the potential for developing a saddle sore. If you've never had a one, and I mean a real one that takes weeks to go away, you don't know what a pain in the ass they are. Lycra is a great material for muscle support, drying quickly from either water or sweat and allowing your wife (poor slops) to make your fashion choices is just wrong, grow a chin instead. Also in case any of you still think you're supposed to wear your bibs on the outside of the jersey LOL, thats not even worthy of the title Fred.
To those who complain about the looks, you need to ride more, really, cause you have too much junk in the trunk, lycra is great for a lot of things, but hiding a front porch hanging over your belt line isn't one of them. As to where you tuck your junk? You don't, you pull it up so you don't sit on it and when you're riding, no one can see it and no one is looking at it, cept in your imagination.
Happy riding

dont forget im the op on this thread and i always wear them .and i use powder an a drop of anti fungal cream just to keep things from growing down there .i know from football days jock itch and ring worm are a pain in the ass.my favorite ones are from cervelo as the padding is great and you dont feel the inseams.,the whine cellar part was only how ugly bike gear is not a word about function.i would never ride without them.i always make sure the wife sees me in them before my ride as we enjoy the laugh.and one more thing look at the responses to my op it seems so many were just dying for someone to post what i did so they could finally get it off their chests.and what this tucking your junk stuff?i mean tucking?huh?what?have a good ride all

Yes, the chamois is shaped like your saddle. The wider part goes in the back.

This will be interesting. I wondered what my first flat would be like and when I got it, it was of course on the rear and I thought it might be a challenge for me... Never has anything been so easy, then again cervelo is a different breed and he might crack under the pressure.
