Camping/Cycling alone
Hello everybody!
I am going to be moving next week, so I want to do something with my friends before I leave. We are planning to ride our bikes to Crystal Lake(Maybe have a parent drop us off), and then camp there. My question is if it is O.K. to camp alone at Crystal Lake.
We are all fit enough to bike up there by ourselves but we are not sure yet. Any advice for riding with heavy loads on our backs?
We are all 16 so do we need an adult with us if we camp? Also has anyone ever gone camping at Crystal Lake(or surrounding ares)? Do we have to book campsites? Thanks!

Another option is to camp at Camp Williams on E. Fork. You can use that as your 'base', and do lots of climbing in the surrounding mountains. And you won't have to lug all your camping gear up the climbs. The campsites are all next to a running stream which is great to jump into after a long day on the bike.

While Crystal Lake is open for day use, the overnight campsites are not expected to be open till late summer. Coldbrook campground is open. It is off the 39 about 5 miles below Crystal Lake. Personally I would go with Glenn campground, which is 6 miles up the west fork off the 39. I think the scenery is better. It is also a bit more manageable a ride when hauling overnight gear. Both sites are first come first served.

I have no idea, but sure hope it is. I used to camp solo many years ago when much younger than 18. I hope things have not changed that much in this regard. Like someone in an earlier post suggested, call the park or forest service if you would like to know for sure.
