1) Do you need SAG?
Hell yes. What happens if I get a blister on one of my toes?
2) Do you think any person other than yourself should be responsible for your safety?
Hell yes. What do you think I pay taxes for?
3) Will you ride in any weather conditions?
This one gets a no. Still remember being at the top of GMR last February in a raging blizzard on the bike.
Coldest ride of my life, and I have had quite a few.
4) Do you mind if Mr. Beanz captures you in his video?
Hell yes. I am tired of having to suck in my gut (or at least try) every time he points that camera of his in my direction. Getting too old for that s--t.
5) Are you afraid of wild animals that you might encounter on GMR?
Hell yes. Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!

Jimmy's Ride application form has hit the famous GMR blog ha ha!....along with a ride annoncement. I have a feeling it's going to be big. Jimmy really knows how to organize 'em!

By the way, the treat of wild animals is overrated. Mountain lions are not stupid, they don't run up and down the mountain for exercise like humans do. They hunt. Do you think they'll chase guys like Lesper4 and idoru2005? These dudes are fast, even if they catch them, they'll be so tired, probably they'll be the ones who will have their arses kicked. Write this down somewhere - wild animals always go for the last guy.
Geez, it looks like I'll be taking a lot of people for a ride.

Cool, I'll pensil you in. We'll decide who's a bigger weather wuss later.
There's another SD yuppie coming out of the woodwork. Hey Ian, stop harassing GP and answer the question - are you in or not?
GR8! The party is getting bigger. Hope the weather won't poop it.

Depends on how the riding goes the next couple of weeks. Just started riding again after several months due to year long work project, so will see. The late start definitely helps tho.

JimmyNH,
Good to see you on the OCRR club ride this morning! I'm doing a GMR ride tomorrow (11-27-11) and will report back on road conditions and wild animal sightings (if any).

I'd like to apply to do this ride. Lesper4 can vouch for me as can a few others who know me as Pain Freak. I did this route Friday and it was great. The easiest it's ever been for me, but then again I went purposely slow to just enjoy the ride and I did. Not sure what the weather will be but it really doesn't make much difference because it's only just over 4,000 foot level.

I need to retract my application. The wife made some surprise plans the night before and I'll be out partying it up.
See everybody next time.

Nice meeting you today up there. By the way, think the plans the wife has for you next weekend will be more enjoyable than a ride out to the village. An early Happy Birthday.

Okay JimmyNH,
It all looks good! Linda Adams and I rode from Glendora up GMR, over GRR and to the Village for some of Missy's Totally Excellent cinnamon rolls. Missy said to let her know if lots of your riders would be partaking of cinnamon rolls and she said she'll bake an extra pan-full (usually one pan is all and Sundays only, so approx. 12 rolls).
The coffee is excellent at Mt. Baldy Lodge too.
Anyway, after breakfast at The Lodge Linda and I rode up to the ski lifts and I'm happy to report that the road is in excellent condition for this Beyond Category Climb. We got just over 7,000 feet of climbing for the day.
Some snow in the shadows along the road on the Ski Lift climb, but none on the road so no worries.
Rick / OCRR
PS: No wild animals. I thought I saw a coyote but Linda pointed out that it had a collar and tags . . . so I guess not!

Sorry guys, I didn't have much time this week, hope I included everyone who replied in the list - mchacon01, psalm, lost again. Anybody missing - rise your hand!
You are a wise man, jmX. BTW, I saw your accomplishment in the other thread - 115 miles on GMR. If I were you, I wouldn't come anywhere close to Glendora for at least a year.
See, that's why I don't like riding this time of the year. It screws up all my party plans.
Hey Rick, thanks for the info. I'm not much of a cinnamon roll guy, so feel free to take care of that business. We can take a quick headcount of the "cinnamon roll" guys and you can call the restaurant before we leave Glendora. This way they'll have a couple of hours to bake the stuff.
I'd rather get the ride done quickly, then we can all go to Round Table Pizza on Foothill Blvd for pizza and beer.
Last but not least - guys, keep an eye on the weather forecast and give a little prayer to watm up. It doesn't look good right now.
