Anybody planning on doing the Amtrak century this year?

Registration begins at 7 am on Sunday if you are...

It sounds like one of those things you do once and then say "yep, done it" so I guess I'll belly up to the bar this year.

I might--gonna try and make the sign up in time. I haven't done it in years but did it 3 yrs in a row. It's fun, lots of other riders to work with. It's well organized and my bike came home w/o being trashed on the truck.

EDIT: Just registered. Train option sold out in 1/2 hour. Some people had hassles getting in, mine when smoothly.

Well, that was fast... I over slept a bit and the "with train" option was sold out at 7:38 am.

I guess I'll try again next year - they apparently had issues during registration and the "no train" option will reopen on July 1, but I'll be boarding a flight to vacation at that time.

You could ride it self supported and buy a ticket for one of the Surfliner runs to get back. I was on at 7 am, done paying by 7:10. I was already put on to page 4 of their list--400 riders already signed up by then.

Registered for the 4th year in a row. Got to be on the computer at 6:58 AM clinking away to get in. I live in San Diego so I do it in reverse. Drive up the day before, and ride home.

15 some years ago I would take the train up to Irvine and ride solo from my Mother's house in Huntington Beach to my house in San Diego, 106 miles door to door, so when I heard about the Amtrak, I just had to do it.

Love the ride.

Does the no-train option sell out like that too?

Woah, I'll have to mark my calendar for this. Sounds like a great ride.

I'm in! My first century. Seems like a nice moderate one to start out with.

The person who I had planned to ride with failed to register, though he's probably going to ride it anyway. And I just found out another acquaintance will be riding with some friends, so I might join up with them.

I'm pretty excited.
