Fun variation this weekend of the Mt. Abel climb:

We started at Highway 166 and climbed to the top of the Mt. Abel campground for almost 6k ft of gain. Later realized we could have made it more epic by starting in Maricopa for 8k ft of gain. Weather was bearable with storm clouds looming most of the climb--otherwise would have probably been pretty unbearable at the start of the climb, which is basically facing into the Central Valley. Notice on Strava that my friend and I are the only two that have ridden this segment.
