Gina's First Century
Well on her single that is, she has 4 on the tandem but wanted a single century. 101 miles with Eyemage, El Monarcha and Me. 15.7 average 6:25 ride time. Nice flat ride including SART to Green river, PCH to Seal Beach and SGRT to Liberty park.
Happy Gina after the ride.
Eyemage enjoying his "little hamburger"
Jose (El Monarcha) and his "little hamburger"
Beanz don't play "little burgers"
GregK, haven't seen this guy in a while, back on the bike!

Burgers from 5 Guys. Just across PCH from the SGRT and PCH. (Mimi's Cafe center). If you've never been there, pretty good. They have a board menu full of stuffings, then you tell them what to put in it.

Was wondering. A couple of weeks ago I started an LB to Laguna ride from the parking lot of the El Torito just down the street (PCH) from there.

My congrats to Gina! She is way in front of me; 60 miles is my longest ride this year (and I hadn't ridden for 20 year prior) and I doubt I'll make it to 100 before next season.

Gina did a great job for her first century -- I did my first (and only) century earlier this year and I was dying! Ended up getting pulled the last 15 miles by a couple on their tandem, who were still putting the hurt on me, ha!

My legs were gone, my butt hurt and I've been re-hydrating myself since yesterday. It was hot, the pace was quick and the wind was unbearable. I've done many centuries, and the recurring theme song for me is the pain. Pain preparing for the ride, pain during the ride and pain after the ride.
All in all, a great ride.
We spent hours discussing the route, time points, water stops, bathroom stops, weather, heat, wind, places to eat, etc. You know every detail of a SART Century will be well thought out when Mr. Beanz is present.
I figured I spent 20% less effort the whole day sitting in The Mayor's draft. El Monarcha took a difficult, but much needed pull on the way back from Liberty Park. Despite all of the pain and suffering, Gina persevered and ending up hitting 19 mph on the way back from the beach.
I think a century is a milestone in a roadie's life. The first having special significance. I was honored to take part in that experience with The First Family of SART.

First off congrats! The weatherman was full of it this weekend... Forecast the high to be in the low 90's. I was riding up through Whittier Narrows on Saturday at around 12:30 and look down and saw 105... Sunday was not much better so that's a hell of a pull in that kind of heat.
