Nate Harrison.

Is Nate Harrison Grade doable on a road bike? I drove it years ago and it was hard packed, and very smooth graded dirt. I would like to ride up it, then down the paved road off the mountain. I think is is popular downhill for MTB and cyclocross. I will soon be getting a new bike with SRAM Apex 11-32 cassette.

I vote no. Pretty rocky & rutted. Better to take your mountainbike if you have one.

It's best on 32 or wider tires. There's a lot of 1-2" rock on the upper half.

+1. Only use a road bike if you have nothing else.

And bring extra water. The last time I went up NHG was in January and I ran out of water about 3/4 of the way up.

Looks like N+1 will be a cross bike.

Thanks for the info.
