Earthquake at 12:33!

Anyone else feel it? What were you doing?
I was just stretching out after walking the dogs and getting ready to head to the gym, and wobble-wobble.

Bikes: Cannondale Synapse '06, Mongoose titanium road bike '00--my commuter. Yes, Mongoose once made a decent ti road bike.

However, these things scare me.

I was riding through Aviara or La Costa. I thought it was the massive amount of wattage surging through my quads.

Come on Cala, haven't you live d long enough in Southern California? A 3.1 hardly registers on the Ritcher scale. That is like a good sneeze.

I don't even notice them anymore unless they are at least 4.5 or higher.

Of course I was on mile 990 of my 1000 miles for August, so even a 4.5 may not have registered for me.

Shoulda guessed it was GP's Mighty Guads of Thunder passing by. He really oughtta issue threat warnings in Genaro's weekly "Where are you riding" threads, so we don't have these false alarms.
How was your ride, Thunder Thighs?

Good. Strauss brewery, Elfin Forest, Del Dios, RSF. 5 of us took a wrong turn in RSF and had to wait for 15 minutes in Olivenhain. We made some kid's day - he had a lemonade stand so we bought all his lemonade. Stopped at Swirlicious on the way home and had frozen yogurt with M&Ms on top.

Did you ride?

The one at 12:33 was a 5.3, and there was a 5.5 about an hour later.

Didn't feel either one.

If you look at the USGS real time EQ map there were 10 quakes of 4 or greater in that area in the last couple days, including some in the gulf (I think you have to zoom the map in to get good info.

https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/

5.5 is definitely noticeable. That fault has been busy lately - what was the quake in Mexicali a year and a half ago? 7.2? I felt that one way up here in Whittier. All kinds of water sloshed out of my pool.
