Empire Bikes Chino Hills Grand Opening & Group Ride Sunday 9/16

I stopped in to buy a CO2 cartridge and they gave me a flier for their grand opening and group rides on Sunday 9/16. More info on their facebook page, looks like the road ride is 47 miles leaving at 8am. They have a good selection of Giant road bikes and a few Scott's. Address is 4200 Chino Hills Pkwy Suite #675 (on the north end of the strip mall.)

Info on the grand opening and group ride loops:

There's a picture of the inside of the bike shop on their facebook page:

Any idea if they'll let people interested in becoming roadies get fitted to a bike, and test ride it on their kid-friendly route? I asked them on fb too; if an answer hasn't been posted here, I'll post it when I get an answer from them.

Most shops will let you go on an extended test ride if they think you are serious about buying. I live in Chino Hills so let me know if you want another route recommendation (I suspect the kiddie ride is not ideal for road bikes.)

Turns out that my friend that is interested in getting into road-riding may end up taking the bikesdirect route instead; if he decides otherwise, I may take you up on that offer to suggest a different route.

I started on this ride but had to cut it short. I got a flat about 3-5 miles in. After I flixed the flat, I inspected the tire and realized it was tore up. Turned around.
Checked out the shop. Very nice store with friendly staff.

Wish I was able to go to this, if only for the swag. Were they really giving out camelbak bottles? Learned about them from a dude handing out cards at the foothill training ride yesterday. Seems like they cater more towards MTB though from what I saw of their pics.

The 42 mile road ride with 3200ft. of climbing was a bit too ambitious for me. Although I think if you're going to do Carbon Canyon riding in a group is a must. Not sure why they headed out east through Chino though. I think that route would be funner and easier the opposite direction.
