This is so cool I had to share. Well, maybe it's only cool to me, but I'm good with that.

I work in the television industry and met a guy in a meeting that mentioned that he was doing a charity ride. Of course, I had to find out more. He's part of Fireflies West. They are riding from San Francisco to L.A. to raise money for leukemia research at City of Hope, or as my family calls it, Club Med. This is the cancer center that saved my life over the past year. I can not be more humbled that a group of people are coming together from all over the country to raise money for a bunch of people they've never met. It restores my hope in people!

They leave on the 13th and arrive in LA on the 19th with a big party down on LaCienega somewhere. I'm looking forward to following along on their journey. I wish I could ride with them. Maybe next year.

Sounds cool. Here's another one that's nearly the same route at nearly the same time, but it's for arthritis research so I'm a fan (I have severe osteoarthritis in my right knee from a car accident 15 years ago - I was walking, then flying, then splatting)

I'd love to do one of those one day but what with my restricted vacation time, my family would kill me if I took off for a week long bike ride. Maybe the two day ride one of these days.
