Where are you riding this weekend ? 09/15-16

I'll probably end up doing this route on Sunday from my house in Fontana up to Glen Hellen/Devore and down towards UC San Bernandino to Waterman and down to the Santa Ana River trail and all the way back up MIlliken or Archibald
If anyone wants to ride, probably head out around 6 or 630

Free at last! No dogs to watch this weekend, girlfriend's outta town, weather looks good & cool, and I have Friday off from work!
Not much surf this weekend, so I'm putting my kayak in the water.

Taking my mountain bike up Nate Harrison Grade, to ride around up in Palomar.

And probably a road ride or two in between, along the coast, through Elfin Forest, and probably Rancho Santa Fe.

Tour de Foothills training ride on Saturday, only 50 miles. Marshall Canyon on Sunday (maybe Wrightwood).

Not very secanic looking Genaro. You could just ride up Lytle Creek twice for the same mileage. What about riding out to Highland, Mentone dam and back?

I'll be riding on Sunday morning. If Hwy. 39 is reopened, I do Encanto Park to Dawson Saddle with a stop at Crystal Lake Cafe on the way back. If 39 is still closed, I'll do GMR/GRR to the ski lifts and back. A buddy of mine who lives in Claremont has ridden to the ski lifts a couple of times this week and never seen CHP or anyone at the GRR gate.

Probably just tour de SGRT unless I get frisky and decide to head up GMR on Sunday. Still debating.

Probably to Balboa Park to watch the SDSU cross country invitational Saturday morning. Sunday will probably be somewhere in a generally eastern direction.

I rode yesterday when it was
at the start of our ride in Cerritos at Liberty Park. Not sure if that is the actual temp....as my Edge 500 was not yet set up to use.

This was our route:
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/222721977

Today rode up in the Santa Monica area...this time with the new Edge 500:
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/223003507

Interesting that the calories it calculated is SO MUCH HIGHER on the ride using the Garmin Forerunner 305 compared to the Edge 500. Probably a much more realistic calculation? Or too low...not sure but interesting to me.

Calories burned data from anything other than a powermeter is pretty much a shot in the dark. It might get you near actual kilojoules expended but it won't get you close.

Angeles Crest from Red Box to Grassy Hollow and back. There is good water at Grassy Hollow now, thanks to the Forest Service. Bottles of water are .50 ea. (donation) or you can pay whatever you want over that. I was so thankful (and dehydrated) that I paid $5 for 3 bottles!

Beautiful day on the mountain!

Where did they fall from? There's no bike trail above them. It looks like a few cyclists trying to cool off.

Howdy, My name is Chris, I am from Southern California. I was into riding when I was younger, like 15 years ago. Rode a lot as a teen then got back into to it in my 30s and rode for many years. Mostly 100 Mile + rides for Charities. But mostly I just loved to ride. Then life got in the way. Now at 52 I am riding again, started in May I got a 2011 Diamond Back Outlook, rode with the HUGE Mountain Bike tires for months just to get the workout and to get back into shape. I recently put 1.5 tires on it, High Breaad type. I am doing a 4.13 minute mile and averaging 13.5mph on a 15 mile ride. I am planning on this weekend doing a 50 mile ride just to do it. I am a firm believer in Muscle memory as I think I proved that to myself in the last few months getting back into riding, I am doing this 50 mile ride to show myself I can still do it and to show my wife I won't have a heart attack in the process. If I do as well as I hope to on this 50 miler I will consider century ride next spring.

This Sunday 9/23 I am going from my house in Riverside to Newport Beach Pier. Leaving my house at 6am going magnolia through Corona to Green River catching the bike path there. Any takers?

Welcome Datsun Nut. Genaro has not posted his trademarked Where are you riding this weekend thread yet for September 22nd-23rd (he's such a slacker ), so you may have to post this again in that thread (if and when he does) to find some takers. Keep a look out for user Mr. Beanz as he is the unofficial Mayor of SART

I changed my plans. Ended up attempting to do the shop ride in Chino Hills on Sunday. Rode out about 10 miels, and got a flat and tore up my tire. Rode back to the shop slowly. Ironically, I even forgot to turn on my Garmin so no evidence of my 20 mile ride. Just the shop mechaniics who cheered me on as the first one back.

I still do want to do that route that I mapped out.
