Tri States Gran Fondo
It is scheduled for November 3rd. It looks like this is the third year for it. It's run by Planet Ultra. It starts and finishes in Mesquite, NV and goes through AZ and UT. 112 miles and 7500' of climbing.
Has anyone ridden this fondo? Is it a nice route? How were the roads? Traffic? How was the weather?
I googled the route and the roads look baron and beautiful and possibly bumpy. I would like to ride this some year.
It's an incredibly beautiful route, on quiet, very well maintained roads. Amazing scenery. Very little traffic. Three traffic lights (two are in Mesquite within the first mile and one is in Utah; but it's a right turn so you won't even notice it); 2 or 3 stop signs. It's really an incredibly GREAT route. The weather in November is usually perfect. We say usually because it's the desert so you never really know what you're going to get. But it should be in the 70s. You'll love it. We promise.

My wife and I rode it back in 2010, first year I guess. Route was fantastic, roads surface was good, traffic was almost non-existent and the weather was perfect. Here is a link to my garmin data on the ride. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/55844355

Running out of certain food, serving green bananas that could not be peeled, limiting how much of certain foods you can have and water for your bottles from a garden hose. If I'm paying over $100 to ride an organized ride the support better be top notch and the water better not taste like rubber hose.
