Speed Bump - 1 / Jon Cryer - 0

I was at the Nautica Tri at Zuma this morning shooting for a corporate client. I've been doing this for the past 7 or 8 years and have seen John Cryer at almost every one. Today, a speedbump beat him. My wife saw him go down hard! He had a great attitude about it though. Cool guy. It'll be interesting to see how the writes write the scabs into the script.

That road rash doesn't look that bad, maybe it's because the scabs haven't formed yet. At least he fell right, looks like he tucked in his knee and elbow and fell on the soft parts.

He is such a dork ha ha! He sure played a funny cyclist role in the original 3 1/2 men, seems like a cool guy!

Funny stuff. He doesn't look too unhappy about the road rash. Maybe feeling grateful that it wasn't worse?

Wait until it starts to seep and stick to his bed sheets and clothes.

They did a telephone interview with him on TMZ which is on their website. He said he was pedaling hard down a hill on the aero bars of his Cannondale bike trying to make up time and the front wheel started wobbling. He said he over corrected on the aerobars, lost control, and dumped the bike and skidding 15 feet on the asphalt. He also said he initially broke the fall with his bib which is maybe why it doesn't look so bad.

It seems like Mr. Cryer is already re-writing history. He doesn't mention a speed bump. He does claim that:

“I have an awesome bike… it’s what the pros use. Unfortunately I am not a pro cyclist… I decided to get super-aggressive as I was going down hill and I got to the bottom… going as fast I could possibly go, the wheel starts wobbling I over-corrected and absolutely just ate it. I did the wobbling back skid where the bike just flies out from underneath you… I skidded probably like 15 feet on my skin… You know how cyclists wear the leotard that offers zero protection? I used that to break my fall.
The star admits he is thankful to have been wearing a helmet because otherwise he would have suffered a nasty head injury: “My helmet took the brunt of it thankfully. I could feel the helmet cracking as my head went back… I could feel the helmet giving way. I was like, I really don’t want to buy it.”

Hmmm.....
From the SF Chronicle, http://blog.sfgate.com/dailydish/201...in-bike-crash/

C'mon Jon, Enquiring minds want to see that busted helmet.

I did the Nautica Malibu Tri last year and Jon Cryer seems like a pretty nice guy. Looks like he'll be just fine. Hopefully, he'll return next year. Does anyone know where on the course he fell i.e. like what mile, etc.?

In all fairness, several people went down on that speed bump, and my wife was about 200' away. She was told that one of the guys she saw go down was Cryer. There is a chance she was given bad info. Maybe it was a death wobble that got him. Still, I like his attitude, especially the part about his lycra breaking his fall.
