definitely a cool idea but how do you keep the inevitable bleedover of joggers and stroller moms out? posted workers/guards? every city could use a north-south/east-west super bike highway to funnel in/out the commuters and keep them from the majority of downtown traffic. have an exit every mile or two, depending on the city's compactness.

to be wholly effective, la's elevated bike lanes would need to stretch from the sart to the sea and from long beach to hollywood/griffith park/downtown la. that's a lotta territory. of course, la is the most sprawling city in the world...or used to be so it may be a bad example.

Neat idea. However, we have something similiar in the local MUPs here. And even then you have to beware:

I would totally pay a buck to use something like that, assuming it was long enough to be useful. Think of connecting downtown LA to Irvine, or the valley, or the SGV. Heck, I'd ride to work (60 miles) if I had something like that... although maybe not every day.
