Busy and Dangerous in Seal Beach Today

We rode our tandem along Coyote Creek / SGRT to Seal Beach today, and it almost looked like a disaster movie! We saw three accidents, one of which involved a bicycle on PCH.

I did not witness the accident, but it looked to me like the bus was departing from a stop as the bicyclist was riding alongside. The rider was eventually transported in an ambulance.

We did not get close enough to the other accidents to see any details, but there were fire trucks and ambulances all over the small beachside community. We saw trucks from Los Alamitos, Huntington Beach, the Navy and Westminster, in addition to Seal Beach units.

Be careful out there!

Man, you have got to be careful around cars, much less buses - they have trouble seeing cyclists under the best of circumstances.

Buses make me nervous! So do cars, pedestrians, dogs, skaters & semis though.

That is going North of PCH between Bolsa and Balboa Drive. I recognize that Wells Fargo Bank there. For some reason there is a Bus or Truck park in that exact spot seems like, all the time! It forces a cyclist to go around it and into traffic.

Jan Feetz, you're right about the location. In fact, it's practically across the street from King's Bicycle Store. There is a bus stop there. When I saw the emergency responders working with the injured biker the bus was stopped about half a bus length north of the bus stop with the wheels turned sharply toward the curb. That's why I had the impression that the bus was departing from the stop as the bicyclist was riding alongside.

There always seems, to me at least, that a vehicle/Bus/Truck is parked at that location, probably because that section of PCH has no bicycle lane. Here is the new link for an update: http://losalamitos.patch.com/article...#comments_list

Also, Google Map the location, you can actually see the bus.
