SD Creek repaving work alert

SD Creek bike path is closed in spots between Barranca and UCI (and further as work progresses west) thru Oct. 30. You'll have to exit and take Harvard or Jamboree to get around it. Lots of rough spots as they prep the asphalt. Be careful.

Found that out the hard way last Friday. The section behind Irvine Civic Center is closed at the bridge over the creek. I usually enter the path from Alton, and closure signs at that entrance would have been nice. I had to double back from the bridge to Alton.

Appreciate the tip. Just back from the NorthWet for the winter and planned on a jaunt up the creek tomorrow. I will see how far I can get.

Hi gang, the path is open but the crew doing the paving moves along it during the day and then picks up where they left off the next, so closure points are moving. Last Friday (9/5) we had to detour at the corner of Barranca as they were paving there (we were s/b on Harvard and were going to enter the trail there). We had to continue down Harvard and get on at Alton. Today, (9/8) we got on at Barranca but we had to exit at the Barranca bridge and make a loop around the skate rink to get back to Harvard. We went further down harvard and entered thru a park south of Alton. On the way back to Tustin, they now had the path closed down at Main (it was open only 40 minutes earlier--sheesh). On top of all this, there is road repair around the area too, so even detouring off the path is a bit of a hassle.

Elvo, as of today, you can jump on anywhere west of the 405 w/o having to get off the path. I only saw path asphalt prep scarring at Campus. Nothing west of that either on Bayside portion or cliff side.

Section between East Yale Loop and Jeffery was open yesterday afternoon. Lots of fresh smooth paving.

Discovered this as I was getting ready to ride this morning, put my bike back in the car and went to starbucks. Going to choose a different route tomorrow.
