Claremont Hills WP (MTB) 12/04/12
Had a chance to ride the MTB today for a test run with the new Go Pro. Trying to figure out the helmet mount, handlebar mount positions. Oh, and the between the legs seat post mount ha ha! I'm guessing the guys that can mount it on the seat post have some skinny legs. I had to ride with my legs apart like a bow legged pregnant lady ha ha! Not bad but I'm not so sure I see any advantages over my Flip.
I do know it takes for ever to load an HD video. 1080-6 minutes took 3 hours on my computer whereas the Flip takes me about 40 minutes. Not so sure I see a big enough difference in quality. That's just me though, maybe my eyes are old. High speed Verizon DSL but we will be getting cable at the end of the week so hopefully it's a faster, better be according to what the cable rep at Best Buy says.
I climbed the east side of the trail (I forget the names). I have to say the damp ground made the climbing feel twice the workout. I was sweating bullets. Maybe my legs are just getting old along with my eyes ha ha! Ran into some dude and his friend at the little gazebo on top of the trail. He says walking is better with better traction, maybe I should have walked he he he! Dude's name is Victor and his camera shy friend Jackie.
The cool thing is that the upper parking lot is being enlarged. Looked totally different and closed for now but it'll be a blessing once it's done. Heck, I don't MTB nearly as much as I did a few years back because I can never find parking.
All in all a cool day but I better load in a lower resolution till the cable guy comes!

I only did half the loop, up and back and made a few stops to remount the camera in different places.
This ride.

Here is a strava link of the loop. I do it in oppostie directions at times. But you can see the many trails in the area. I usually stay on the main loop unless I'm heading toward Potato Mtn.

Heading toward Potato Mtn.....lots less people once off the main trail.

Well, before you get your new cable modem, go here and try this a few times to get a baseline (a few different times of day too). Speedtest.net I just tried it and got a ping of 11 ms, upload speed of 3.21 MB/s and a download speed of 21.89 MB/s. That was with a wifi connection too, don't believe the wifi slows you down stories - unless your wifi is awful, it will rarely limit you.
Note that despite my awesome download times, the upload stinks. that's common, but crappy.
Anyway, if it's any comfort to you, the 1080p video you posted looks awesome (quality wise) and much better than your flip did, although that was nice enough.

Hopefully the cable is faster and I can load much faster than 3 hours.

Well, it depends! The top download speed will probably be significantly faster, although you'll still be limited by the number of users accessing content in your local area as well as the traffic on any given website but there may not be as significant a difference in download.
Go run that speed test and post your results for discussion.

Last night and this morning, I guess my connection sucks!
42-1.02-.38
40-1.02-.38
I'll have to test again afer the cable is hooked up, s/b here in an hour or so.
Whatever you do, don't post any typing tests.

GoPro2 with the outdoor package, head mount, helmet strap mount and a wifi/bacpac remote control smartphone something or other ($69 accessory) for $199.
I know nothing about smartphone but I think I read you can use it as a remote corntrol, I'll look into it if I ever get a smart phone.

I watched the video in high def (1080) no problem.
Looks cool!

That upload speed is still craptastic... although it should cut down on your upload time. I'm sure you'll enjoy that download speed though.
Now as to that remote control... I'll have to use my phone to control your camera while you're out riding.

No, getting an ISP that doesn't think the internet is a one way street is key.. I think that unless you pay big bux for a dedicated T1 or T3 line you're SOL. You noticed there's a big discrepancy on mine too but I can live with 3 MB up. I backed up my computer to a cloud service and it took 4 months to get 1 TB uploaded.
