My grandfather was born in SLO in 1905. I love riding that stretch of Hwy 1 from SLO to Carpinteria. After Ventura it's no fun any more, so I usually get on the train in SB and get back to SD on the rails.

Favorite spot in SLO is Central Coast Brewing Co. on Monterey St. They are ultra cool people who love beer and bikes. And there's a CBO shop right next door!

I am from Ventura ... I love riding from SLO to Morro Bay then return to SLO via Avila Beach.

I also enjoy riding in the Solvang-Buellton-Lompoc area.

BTW, any of you Central Coasters have experienced this:

Hello, just spending my Christmas in Morro Bay (13 mi off SLO) if that counts. Live in Washington, DC area regularly.

Planning on renting a road bike from SLO in the next few days and exploring a bit. Any recommendations?

I had a good experience with Cambria Bikes. If they don't rent the kind of road bikes you're looking for, they're cool enough to tell you who in SLO will. They're pretty web-savvy, so you can even contact them ahead of time, and will probably get a rapid enough response to make arrangements.

Thanks -- I saw they were highly rated, so I'll give them a call. Any chance I'll be able to rent a carbon frame?

Check out wally's bicycle works in SLO. He is on higuera street. Super cool down to earth bike shop and I'm pretty sure he rents bikes.

SLO Brew is pretty chill...well actually...all of SLO is pretty awesome! I loved living there! If you guys are into the mountain biking scene, they have some amazing trails!
