PSA-Fullerton and water balloon assault

Heads up to Fullerton area riders. I was hit by a water ballon by a black truck, possible F150, in the Fullerton area.

Got hit today, while going up Valle Vista, near Virginia. Luckily, I didn't crash. I was going slow uphill!! By the time, I knew what happened I couldn't see the plates..

On the good side, I finished my ride anyways!! (reported to Fullerton PD, hoping that they can put together some profile)

Making me consider riding with a GoPRo.

I'm sure Fullerton PD will assign a few full time detectives to work the case.

allroy - did you pass through the I-5 construction area to get to Fullerton? Any difference to go north or south? How did you do it?

Count yourself lucky that it was water.

Holy buckets, I ride right through there all the time. I drop my kid off at the pool at the college right there, head up Berkeley to Hornet to Dorothy to points east... I've never been heckled or harassed there thankfully.

Good luck ID'ing a black pickup in that area though.

Glad it wasn't anything more than water. I hope. Didn't smell like piss! Just a little bummed that this happened .5 miles from my front door. And yes there are tons of black trucks in this part of Fullerton.

If I got hit by a water balloon I probably had it coming. I threw a lot of water balloons as a teenager although I can honestly say never at a cyclist (mostly at cars.)

Me too. As long as other high school kids on bikes won't count as cyclists. I've had people throw balloons at me before while riding in Newport Beach, but none have connected. It's always on hot days, so it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I'm trying to figure out how one would fill a water balloon with pee...

Pee in a plastic water bottle, and (being sure to hold the lip of the balloon firmly on the neck of the bottle) use that to squeeze the pee into the balloon. Probably best to do this over a toilet.
Be sure that you use this knowledge only for good and never for evil.

Before you take your revenge - I live in Fullerton and drive a black F150, but I swear it wasn't me! I have had my share of people honk at me around town, but luckily no water balloons...

1947, Anadarko OK, I was six years old and we were visiting relatives. It was August. It was hot. My cousins and I were filling balloons with water and throwing them at each other, and the neighbor's dog. Then: I got this 'great' idea -- why not throw one or two at cars coming down the street? Yeah, sure, why not.

So, I filled a big one (not those little round ones but big long one) completely full, stood on the curb and waited. After a couple of minutes, an old man drove carefully down the narrow street in front of my aunt's house. As he got near I raised my water balloon to my shoulder and prepared to fire. He saw me and slowed fearing the 'worst'. Then as I launched my water-bomb at his windshield -- it burst, completely and surprisingly covering my head and shoulders with its contents; I was soaked; justice was done.

The 'old' man started laughing, laughing so hard that he had to stop his car. My aunt started laughing; my mother started laughing; my cousins started laughing; the neighbor's dog started barking. I was completely humiliated, wet and cold. The incident didn't become funny for another 20 years.

In the year i've been riding, i've been hit with a big gulp cup filled with raw eggs, and I got silly stringed. The silly string one I thought was funny. It still pisses me off though because what they are doing can cause a crash, and a crash at road bike speeds can equal broken bones. Been yelled names at so many times it doesn't even get my attention anymore.

Yeah all the incidents were people who looked 16-20 year old, and always in a group. I've never been confronted by someone who was alone.
