I had a great ride but didn't see any of you out there. I did see Chris (calamarichris) and some non-forum riders I know, but no forumites other than Chris. Temps were great, even not bad climbing up Casidas Pass. Great pop-sickles at the final stop too!

I probably didn't see you guys since I left late and was playing catch up all day. They even turned a few signs around since they thought it was too late for people to make it to the lunch stop WTF. I made it to all the stops in plenty of time. Too many loops hence the passing of duplicate signs, which was confusing. Luckily I knew the route more or less.

I've only done two centuries since high school. This and the Tour de Cure Ship to Shore a few months ago. THIS was a far better ride and I can't wait until next year.
As cbadrider mentioned, it was great to meet her. HerbM, great to see you at the start, too. We tried to catch you, as you predicted we would, however, never did. I suspect we may want to adjust your definition of "slow". Also briefly ran into Jason at a SAG. Always fun to put faces to the name.

Delighted to see Rick & his bride out having a good day, even if I wasn't. (Rick was seriously hauling hauling the freight!) I had a residual sprained wrist from my Colorado trip that didn't start bothering me until a bumpy stretch at about mile 70. I turned back early, but it was still a lovely day and a good time.
What time are you guys starting anyway?!?! I started the double-metric at 8:00, and it was majorly deserted. Went 15 or more minutes through some stretches without seeing a soul!
Cbadrider was kind enough to carpool me up there.
Ventura is such an awesome town! Had a great brunch at Cava in Montecito, had a one-hour massage after the ride, then went bar-hopping on Main Street. (Turns out Paddy's is not an Irish Pub, but a gay bar.)
Lot of cute dogs on Main Street--made me miss my little one.
The Clocktower Inn has taken a serious dive in the last two years--place has become El Fleabag-arino IMO.
Looks like next year the bike path along the 101 will be wider & smoother. Can't wait to see that!
Megathanks to Cbad for giving me a ride up!

I started right around 6:50 (for the double), saw quite a few people in most areas, especially on the way through Santa Barbara. Lots of people there, and kind of a lot of rudeness too Throughout most of the rest of the ride people were being pretty respectful about not taking the lane for no reason, but through that section.... quite a few 'blobotons' just cruising along taking up the whole dang road. I was happy when I hit some of those last little climbs and could get around them.
Got stopped in Santa Barbara by a Trayvon Martin protest too, big group of people out marching blocking traffic.
