Questhaven Rd.

I grew up in north county and remember driving around Elfin Forrest, Questhaven Rd. I moved away then came back a few years ago. That San Elijo Hills development was a real shocker. I have only been down Elfin Forest between San Marcos and Escondido once in the last nine years since coming back, and Questhaven not at all. I see on Google Maps that Questhaven is now closed to cars. Can you still bike through it? https://goo.gl/maps/Mli8W

don't see why not, posted as a nature trail w/ a horse gate. I just ride on Harmony/ Elfin rd then right in downtown and UP the hill to double peaks then drop down into San Marcos. If heading to the coast I'll take a left in downtown SEH and make a right on Melrose up to Palomar airport road.

The old chicken farm back on Harmony near the Esco side is currently getting bulldozed to few a few hundred houses on that land. Ride that road as much as you can before the add traffic makes it a terror for one of SD cycling gems.

Memories. I lost something on Questhaven road back in 1973. That thing that no one ever gets back. Now we're loosing that awesome back country it'self.

The lyric is classic, and expresses how I often feel when I see the changes this area has gone through.

You can bike through, but the section between gates is not paved. You'll be fine on a road bike though.
