Okay, first . . . you don't "hire" bikes here like you do in Australia or the U.K. Instead you "rent" them. Just so you know when you get here . . .
That said, for E-Bikes:
URBAN BICYCLE OUTFITTERS
1900 NORTH EL CAMINO REAL
SAN CLEMENTE, CA 92672
.
949-492-5737
Ask for Pete Van Nuys. Not sure if he rents E-bikes but he would probably know where you could rent them.

No shortage of bike shops in Los Angeles. You might be more specific about where in Los Angeles you are staying. It's damn big city. A county of 10 million people.

Los Angeles also has somewhat decent public transportation, depending on what part of the city you'll be in. Both trains and buses have space for bicycles.

Can't help with the ebike rental, but thought I would add that a downloadable version of the cycling maps can be had at https://www.bicyclela.org/maps_main.htm. If you have a smartphone or you are planning a route at home, I would go with jmX's google maps recommendation.

Hi I am back after booking the accomotdation so i know exactly where and when. I am going to LA on the 16th of June and leaving on the 16th of July. I am staying approximately here https://maps.google.com.au/maps?clie...ed=0CAgQ_AUoAQ . I have done a fair bit of googling so have some names of rental places and pricing. Is most of LA flat? If so i can probably do it on a ordinary bike

I'm kinda confused. You said you're staying in West Hollywood but then linked to a map of Burbank. Those are very different areas. Did the plan change? I'm not saying to share the exact addresses or business names, but the more information you can share with us regarding your trip, the more appropriate our responses can be. For example, from West Hollywood to downtown is pretty flat. Burbank to Downtown requires some hills, and somewhat tight canyon roads, however, there is a train that runs from North Hollywood to downtown.

Ah, that's a different story! People more familiar with the area will be more helpful than me. Enjoy your trip!

That looks like Hollywood, at least that California Chicken Cafe is in Hollywood. My brother lives a few blocks east of there. That area doesn't strike me as being terribly bike friendly but I don't have any experience riding around there. I brought my bike over once when I was pet sitting for him and I was too afraid to ride it around there LOL.
