Where to buy a used road bike?

Any suggestions other than ebay or craigslist?

Bike shops may have some demo bikes for sale.

"AGreatVintage.com" run by one of the contributors on BF C&V.

What are you looking for specifically? Type of riding? Size?

Check out OC Bike Garage in Laguna Hills/ Lake Forest. It's a great little bike shop with a great owner. I bought a nice little used road bike from them and I've been going back there ever since to get my bikes maintained.

If you lived near here I could point you to a couple of shops that sell used and classic road bikes. Alpha Bicycles in Vista and Pacific Coast Cycles in Oceanside. I think San Clemente Cycles does too, but have only been in once for emergency repairs and didn't notice that well.

There are at least a couple shops in my area (Claremont) that sell used bikes. Where are you located? And what are you looking for? "Road bike" is a rather broad category these days.

Let me join in the OP's request. I'm looking for a used-up road bike to renovate. The plan: Upgrade my Tarmac with new shiny stuff over a period of months. Transfer the perfectly good components over to the project bike . . . . an aluminum framed bike might be the best starting point. Anyway - with the neer components, supplement the project bike by going through the headset, bottom bracket, change the cables and so on. Should be fun, I just need the bike. Thanks. To the OP, let me know what city you're in and a bit more about the bike you're looking for and I'll keep an eye out for you. Thanks. DB

If you've got some parts, look at the Nashbar frames. Less than $200. A single speed / fixed gear frame is $100.
