There's nothing wrong with sitting on the back and enjoying the view.

"Ole Leather Skin"! I see this guy all the time on the SGRT, PCH, and down by the HB pier. I bet he's got a million miles on that bike.

Within a minute or two I could tell someone was drafting us, because there was a sudden increase in power from the stoker's compartment. Not wanting to shy away from a challenge or let down the woman of my dreams, I responded.

We ended up riding at about 110% of our max all the way to Rynerson Park in Lakewood. As we turned right into the park our drafter shouted out that he "hadn't had the privilege of riding behind a strong tandem team for a couple of years.", and he "really appreciated it."

What he didn't know was that we were so whipped that we could barely walk when we arrived home a few minutes later. I hope he's not reading this, because it might shatter his illusion of our incredible speed

I guess we could complain that he didn't take a turn in front, but we were having so much fun blazing along that we didn't mind!
You must live near me! I live right by Rynerson.
    Move along....nothing to see here....anymore.

We frequently ride from my in-law's home, which is less than a mile from there. In fact, there's another SGRT regular named Bob who lives on the same block.

    Maybe we'll meet some time!

I live in the neighborhood by the curve at Studebaker and Carson that folks use to,cut thru to get to LB Town Center. I typically ride up to Del Amo to get on SGRT.

I'm on a Trek (black/white/silver) and am an Athena....

As I reached the end of the trail where you have to exit at Marina Drive, I made a right turn, and I heard a voice call out "Thank you." I looked and saw it was one of the guys I had tucked behind earlier.

    Very nice gesture.
We ride the SGRT all the time and once, on the way back, an old dude comes past. He looked like a racer from 1970, kitted out. I would guess...70 yrs old.
    Pretty impressive.
Some weekend warrior was drafting him and we jumped on behind them. The OG was riding pretty hard into the wind... 23-25mph, I guess.
We just sat back and then worked through, taking long pulls to let him recover.
WWarrior didn't do crap for pulls and started attacking after OG took a long pull.

We just hung back w/ OG and let him draft as we pulled back the WW, but OG eventually gave up the ghost.
So, we just caught back up to WW and decided to make him suffer.
So we just took to the front and kept upping the tempo until he could just barely hang on, then slow a bit... repeat.
WW never hit the front but blew out the back after a short time.

I hope the OG caught him and passed because that is not cool.
