Feral, or owned by crazies and raised to be vicious. Either way, another slam against a breed that gets an undeserved bad rap due to their "heritage".

Glad the cyclist is OK.

+1. Owners are the problem, not the dogs. There's a tendency for people with an oversized desire to be macho to get these dogs and then mistreat them.

I'm sure since the article involves a cyclist, half the commenters will somehow figure out a way this is the cyclists fault and relate it to seeing someone running a red light.

"Police found out about the incident when a woman called and said dogs were attacking a man on the sidewalk on Fair Oaks Avenue."

Overwhelming proof that riding on the sidewalk is more dangerous than riding on the street.

That, coupled with the average person's varying levels of anxiety about the breed after reading stories like this, exacerbate the problem.

Dogs are masters at reading our anxiety, and if a pitbull is constantly confronted with anxious people, they are naturally going to be ill-at-ease.

Just like those people who say, "Dogs just don't like me." Well, if you keep repeating that to yourself, and make yourself anxious every time you approach a dog, it becomes true. Sometimes you can tell when a dog is thinking, "What's up with this nervous little weiner of a human?!"

That said, I always chuckle at the walking Adam's apples with tattoos all over their arms, yanking a pitbull around on a leash to show how tough they are to master such a mighty animal. I see more of them walking pitbulls than any other breed of human.

Draw your own conclusions about big guys who have tiny little fluffy dogs and ride them around in baskets.

It's not for him. His dog's port-a-bowl is in his leash hand. Your point?
