Ventura to Costa Mesa: Recommend a Route, Please
Assuming I don't collapse in Ojai the day before, this will be the last day of a tour from the Sacramento area to Costa Mesa. Lightly loaded, experienced cyclist looking for the best route. Safety and directness are higher priorities than scenery. Thanks.

I think the only way to get to LA County is to go through Oxnard and Port Hueneme then join Hwy 1 to Malibu. You can go to mapmyride or ridingwithgps and find the ACA cue sheet. I'm pretty sure it puts you on the beach bike path from Santa Monica to Redondo. When you get to Redondo you have to get around LA Harbor to get to Long Beach. Once in LB you can join up with 101, head to Newport and make a left.
