Weirdness on River BIke Path thru Elysian Park/Frogtown
I know the stretch of the bike path along the LA river between Fletcher and the 110/5 interchange has a history of problems between residents/walkers and cyclists. Has something happened recently to make this flare up again?
On today's ride, I came around one of the bends in the path to see safety cones in the middle of the road. Thinking it was workers, I slowed down. Turns out some guy was sitting on a chair in the center of the path. He had what looked like a uniform on (white polo shirt and kaki's) and a clipboard. He didn't get out of his chair but he started yelling at me as I rode up to him. Having done nothing to deserve being yelled at, I decided he was just one of the nuttier residents and kept going. I noticed he didn't say anything to the people walking on the path. Seemed like he was singling out cyclists.
What I did make hear was him yelling to slow down, there were pedestrians around (I had slowed down). Couldn't make out more than that. And he was pretty intense about it. As far as I was concerned, he was the bigger threat, camped out like he was in the middle of the path.
Have tempers flared in that area again?
Maybe it was just a walkathon or something. I've never noticed this on prior weeks.
