We joined the ride two years ago, and it was very impressive. Here's a report on that ride with some pictures.
We are planning to ride this year, too.

Lightning Velo and Velo Allegro are doing one in Long Beach. I participated in that last year--it's a good cause.

Will you please give me a rough idea of what the route will be?
Thanks!

Just to double-check... is this where the ride will start? 6550 Marina Dr, Long Beach, CA
Will you please give me a rough idea of what the route will be?

B) Through Belmont Shore via 2nd Street to Broadway to downtown Long Beach and working our way back to the marina. I believe it's about a 12 mile ride, very slow and easy pace.

My wife and I rode our tandem (+dog) in the Long Beach Ride of Silence last night. Just like our ride in Irvine two years ago, we were impressed with the event, and we're sure that those who saw us were too.
Irvine has many more riders and a police escort, but our ride this year seemed more personal. Several riders introduced themselves to us (and our dog) and made us feel welcome. We learned a little about the Velo Allegro and Lightning Velo clubs. Before we started the ride several riders spoke of those to whom the ride was dedicated.
The ride through busy Long Beach was much different than our previous ride through the relatively wide-open spaces of Irvine. The shared lane along 2nd Street was a new experience, and the quiet neighborhoods were very pleasant. The dedicated bike lanes and bike stop lights in the downtown area were very impressive!

Thanks to everyone who made us feel welcome!
