Looking for a bike shop

Wassup party people of So Cal?

I've been bike commuting for a few years now and I think it is time for a new ride. I've been looking around for bike shops that will have what I am looking for. The only places I have found in my are, the LBC, are:

Jax on Bellflower
Long Beach Cyclery on Long beach Blvd
Performance Bike-All over
Sports Authority and Sports Chalet

I am hoping to find a place where they have plenty of bikes I can look at that that meet my needs. Each store had between 0-1 bikes worth looking at.

I am looking for a cyclocross style bike, in the under $1k range.

Any thoughts? I really want a good local bike shop that has a good selection of bikes I can take for test rides to get an idea of what I really want/need.

TIA

Out of those, I'd go with PB if I was looking for a cx bike.

I was hoping there would be other shops around to try that I was not aware of.

Thank you though.

Home - The Path Bike Shop | Orange County | CA | Bicycles | Mountain | Road | Custom Build | Repair | Bike Fit
They are in Tustin and mainly MTB, but I would give them a call and check on their stock.

I'm in So Ca but I'm not a party person.
Really hard to give shop locations when you don't provide a location.
Why don't you look in the phone book or internet for LBS and call them
instead of making us do the leg work for you?

Well...I did mention my area, "the LBC".

Also, I am not looking for someone to do leg work for me. I was looking for recommendations on other smaller shops that I may not be aware of or that don't have a presence on top ranking pages on Google. Small local shops that people frequent because of the atmosphere they enjoy there not because their webmaster has god SEO skills. I'm looking to "spread the love" if you will to someone else's home shop.

As far as the "party people" comment...apparently someone is a little too literal but I thank you for your input.

You're probably not going to find a shop with a "good" selection of cross bikes, especially not < $1k, so you might need to do a little driving.

In Cycle is pretty good, Rock and Road cyclery is pretty good, Pat's 605 cyclery is pretty good... I'm not sure what the inventory levels are like though. Performance Cyclery (not the same as performance bike) in Santa Clarita has a monster selection of bikes and they allow test rides if you want to try a specialized bike out - www.performancecyclery.com/

Agree, Performance in Santa Clarita has a good selection of bikes. Last time I was there (several years ago), so did Cycle World in Northridge.

Thanks for the direction folks. I'll have to give those other shops a visit. I am open to driving so I might even hit up the shop in Santa Clarita.

A new cross bike for under $1k is difficult to begin with. Most places don't have a large selection of Cross bikes. You may have to order one.

Jax in LB is a large Trek store, if you want a Trek, check it out. They can transfer from their other stores if they don't have what you want.
Performance bike in LB Towne Center is probably in your price range
Other shops in the area worth checking out would be King's in Seal Beach, Outspoken (Cannondale) in Huntington Beach, Richard's cyclery (Giant) in West Garden Grove, REI in Huntington Beach.
Probably out of price range is Specialized, best/closest would be Surf City Cyclery in Huntington Beach.
