Well, that sucks... as it happens I'm perusing CL pretty frequently right now for my daughter, I'll keep an eye out. If you're not aware, you can create an RSS feed from CL to simplify keeping track of frequent searches you do.
This wasn't your buddy who just did his first century was it?

Hopefully the buddy was insured and he's reported the theft to his insurance carrier. While the bikes are classic, and irreplaceable, he should be able to get new machines to ride.
Even though I keep my bikes in a garage, I also keep them chained up. Its a freakin pain but just too many creepy people out there that can't be trusted. I would bet, repeat offender if this happened before. And the thief knew already what was in the garage. Doesn't make things any better however. In another house where I lived, my room mate (an engineer) designed this system where eye bolds were attached to one of the garage pillars and then a cable was run through all the eye bolts and back through the bikes. Would make it a pain for anyone to try to quickly steal the bikes. Right now, in my garage, all the bikes are chained together and then chained to the electrical conduits. My plan is to at least slow the thief down. Of course, it takes me 15 minutes to pull one bike out but oh well...
