Arizona ride

Does anyone know anything about this event? Seems to be a big event and I am thinking about flying out for some fun when it's cold in Illinois.

I did the ride last year solo (did meet a friend 85 miles in).

I'm from WI and met a few riders that had came out from the midwest to ride in the warmer weather.

I'm going again this year but with a group of friends. Any specific questions?

Tucson is a fantastic place to ride especially during the winter. In November the overnight lows are in the mid 40's, the highs are in the low to mid 70's, and it doesn't rain often.

I'm not a native; I'm originally from Minnesota. I just adapt quickly.

Anyone else do the ride? Weather was great this year, silverbell rd was rough but the event was very well organized and the people that line the route are great.

This is the only ride I do where you have spectators handing out water bottles, coke etc outside of the rest stops. Lots of people with cowbells etc cheering people on as well.

I did the 60. The roads were a bit tough on the bike.... My new wheelset (6700 tubeless) rear wheel was knocked out of whack some where before Tangerine/I-10. Had to open up the rear caliper to finish out the ride (and still made it in under my goal).

The spectators were fantastic, the LE support was second to none, the sag stops looked GTG (I didn't stop). I'll be back next year for the whole enchilada.

I rode on my carbon bontrager xxxl clinchers. I was worried around the same intersection you mentioned as well as on the silver bell stretch but no problems.

I rode the 111 non-stop but my buddy who stopped caught me while I waited for the train at that same spot...

Congrats on beating your goal. We beat our goal (but missed my "big dreams"goal).

I did the 111 this year and loved it! Ok I loved the first 80 miles and when I was finished Bill Walton and Barry Bonds rode along too. Awesome day!

I did 60 last year and this year I will definitely be doing the 111. It rocked, the start was very thick and not awesome, but the aid stations were excellent ( I also didn't stop ). officially the website has been updated though, so your link is dead...

Raced it the first 2 years; then started riding Bike Patrol on our tandem with my wife.
After 15 El Tours she decided that it was 'enough.'
Then continued riding Bike Patrol on my single.
Missed only one El Tour as boss would not let me off work . . .
Big ride with 8,000-some riders now. First El Tour had just under 200.
Lots of support/food stops/spectators.
Enjoy!

I did the 111 miles this year. Loved it. Fully supported and the great people of Tucson come out to cheer you all along the route. The first 85 miles were a blast. Then the second half of the ride . Make sure you aren't riding solo into that wind from the west. Can't wait for next year
