Cool!! I am doing the 100 mi, I was hoping there would be some groups going....100 mi is MUCH eaiser in a group than on your own...last time I went there were a few hundred people there....it was a good ride...I bet it has gotten bigger over the years...

I ride a white Kuota Kredo..pretty big guy..hard to miss....say hi if you notice me...I go by Biff as well...

O.K. Biff, I will be on an Orange Tarmac. I am about 5'9" and 155#. My wife rides a Black Allez, everybody that is with me will be on a Specialized. What kind of time would you do the 100mi. in? Most of my friends will be 4:20-5:00.

That's funny, I was there and saw both of you. I saw Biff in Cushing (were you the one that rode a double loop to get a 100?) and I saw foretexas on the road early on. You were wearing a Bikeforums jersey, right? I was on a green Serotta wearing a red and black striped jersey. My pal and I did the 100 without getting lost or making a wrong turn! He did have 2 flats though.

Are you guys doing Triple Bypass? I gave a guy a tube that had 2 flats....they pulled me about 10 miles after the second turn off....the pace was just to much for me at that point...I met Foretexas early on....I did the 100, 108.something actually...I was done when it was over....it must have been very humid because it felt HOT....I don't think there were two many 100 milers either....I rode with a girl a lot of the way...she was from Cushing so she stoped and said hi to her parents (Sitting in lawn chairs on the 100 mile loop) they told us that 6 people had passed before us....we were both amazed that so few had turned off at the 62 mark....

All in all it was a good century...my 10th one for the year...

    Ooops,
Yeah that was us riding with you from Cushing. I never menatally placed the bike I saw under your butt, I was thinking it belonged to one of the other guys that showed up in Cushing about the same time. They got screwed up on the first lap so they made a second loop to get to a hundred. My pal says thanks for the tube.

In the last 25 miles, the heat index must have done some climbing as I felt like it was much hotter than it actually was, too. I was damn glad to get off that bike, and yes it was 108+ miles. IIRC our actual ride time was in the neighborhood of 5:30 with an avg of around 19.5. Rides like that are a lot easier when the group is larger. I'm guessing here, but I'll bet only a dozen or so people rode 100. Karen finished about 1/4 mile behind us, she hung in there most of the way until about 2 miles from the finish.

PS I just checked, the ride time was 5:35, avg 19.3 and there was a surprisingly to me just under 4900' of climbing. High was 84, avg 79.

Biff, good to see you. Zag, I do remember seeing your bike, I just can't remember where. I may have seen you on 33 just before the first turn into Ripley. Good rides to both of you guys. I had a decent day 19.1 avg. and 3149 of climbing on the 100k route. I talked to one of the organizers that told me they had 89 sign up for the 100mi. the most ever. Several of my friends made the wrong turn with the pack in Cushing and did that loop again to get ninety something in. I thought the hotel was very generous to give us shower and pool use. Hope to see you guys again.

Tell your friend your welcome on the tube....that is what there for...I would MUCH rather give them away than use them myself....lol

I was really feeling it buy the time we actually caught up with you....you guys had a great finish....I was just about where you were until mile 85 and went south fast...I could have never hung on..the last part was (seemed) hilly...

It was very nice to meet everyone, it was a great ride...great average foretexas. Your friends must be brutal to ride with...lol
