Hello everyone. I rode the North Diversion Channel this weekend for the first time and was looking forward to going west on the bike path at Paseo del Norte. When I made it to Paseo, I couldn't tell where the heck to go to get west! The bigger wooden crossover bridge that's near Paseo was closed, of course. I came back on the other side of the arroyo, the west side, but did not see a path going west. The bike map I have, the 2006 version, shows a green line going west that connects to the Bosque trail. I saw a lot of cyclists, but was fearful of asking as those decked out in full garb usually won't give the time of day to a newbie like myself; not to mention they were flying like rockets.

Is this just another ***** up of Albuquerque planning or is there another way I didn't notice to get to the trail that runs along Paseo?

if you haven't found it yet, just stay up to the left while headed north instead of head under paseo. although, i should mention the bike path ends at a very busy coors blvd not too long after that. you can bike along coors as it does have a lane but be careful. not a good leisure ride.

Thank you both for responding to my post. Hey marcoocram, I think I would be very fearful of riding on Coors actually. I rode the North Diversion Channel this weekend and there is MORE construction on Paseo, so I couldn't even cross if I wanted to. I was wondering if I should stay to the left on the NDC, thanks for the advice. I'll try that next weekend and see if I can get to that trail off of the Paseo frontage road that connects to the Bosque. I just find that bike trail off of Paseo to be a mystery. Maybe I can find someone to guide me sometime, or just head east, uphill and forget riding to the Bosque.

I think I misunderstood you, I should have read more closely. I go this way to work.

The bike path is technically closed past the Journal Center turn off bridge, however, you can usually go straight through, cross the Paseo frontage rd and turn left. The path is completed now, but there is construction sometimes. BTW, you will be going around the "Path Closed" signs this way. You know, be smart and go slow, but I go this way daily as do probably a hundred other bikers.

The official route is to turn off through the neighborhood on the west side of the path BEFORE you hit the Journal Center bridge. There's no good way to expalin this, you'll just have to watch for a fairly sharp downhill southward slope off to the side, head south half a click, then wind your way west and northward. Don't know the street,s but looking at the map I'd guess you come off the path at Willow creek then wind your way to Lomalitas. You'll have to cross the Paseo frontage Rd. here too, or jsut head down until you hit the Edith light, then jump on the path whcih will be on the right side of the street.

BTW, when I say frontage Rd. we're not talking anything like the interstates.
