VIVBIKEVEGAS 2013, who is in?

http://rtcws.rtcsnv.com/vivabikevegas/#.UdH0AvlqkhE

The date now coincides with Interbike. A humongous Bike Vendor display show

http://www.interbike.com/show-info/interbike-2013.htm

If you want to see what the new lines of bikes and accessories will be, you want to attend this convention.

JR N. and I have ridden this and will be there this year as well. Its a well planned and supported event. I was thinking that Bike Forum poster might gather for breakfast prior to the ride. Let me know if there is some interest.

I think I will. Depends if I can get enough miles in between now and then to get ready. I just bought my first "real" road bike, a felt Z5. Most of my miles have been commuting on my hybrid and mountain biking. Longest ride I've ever done on the hybrid is the 34 miles around the River Mountain Loop Trail.

I won't try the century but will do the metric if I think I'm ready by the registration deadline.

Quick question ... everyone who rides VBV gets some time in interbike??

There is a $20 fee for Friday only access to Interbike. It is an awesome display of bike parts, stuff and bikes. There is also a demo time for Mountain Bikes at Bootleg Canyon. You need a full access pass $50., to get into that. In the past they have had a beer garden and food as well as all the new bikes being introduced. Imagine testing a Niner, Ellsworth, Turner, Yeti ...... all in one day.

I registered for the metric. It's still two months away, more than enough time to get ready.

Seems demo day is limited to industry: http://www.interbike.com/show-info/interbike-2013.htm.

But, the floor show will be an interesting experience for 20 bucks. It corresponds with packet pickup so it's easy to pop over to Mandalay Bay after Town Square.

I'm not sure what and where you have to enter to get that pricing. I tried to go through the registration wizard and it offers me a single option, "non-buyer", $450 for the whole conference.

P.S. Tried again by listing a bogus bicycle shop as the employer, it is showing me $0.00 registration fee but it wants me to upload paperwork documenting that I'm in the business (I quote: "Please upload two (2) of the following credentials: Invoices showing purchases of FINISHED brand name goods in the cycling or fitness industry made within the last six months. Invoices for samples/blanks do not qualify as finished goods.") I give up.

After I registered for Viva Bike Vegas and paid through active.com, my registration e-mail contained a Interbike registation link.

Arizona Adam got it right. When you get to the end of the VIVABIKEVEGAS registration there is a section for getting the Friday Interbike ticket.

Certainly hope it is not as warm as last years ride, but yes I am registered for this years event... Except for being slower than I wanted, and two flats, and one blown tire I had a good time last year, and the year before. With all the early Thundershowers we are experiencing, maybe the fall weather will also arrive early for this amazing event in the Vegas Valley. Looking forward to enjoying some of the trade show, on Friday. Something not to miss i believe...

I'm signed up JR, I'll follow you around with an umbrella and some spare tires. I'll keep the wife on speed dial with the SAG bus.

The Umbrella would have been very welcome last year for Sun protection when changing flat tires, and a you having a replacement tire would have made me smile with glee. Speed dial for a SAG bus, is an interesting thought, but I keep thinking I will have this event riding down to skill set with several more under my belt.

I did not register for Interbike's $20 Friday bicycle & parts Tour, I went back and looked at my email confirmation, and accomplished that today...

I had 4 flats in the Seattle to Portland Ride this year: 3 near/about the 27 mile point, just beyond the Support location in Kent, WA, and another with the Portland finish line in view. I had a cable/wire bead unravel in the tire that flatted 3 tubes, before i understood what was creating the flats. Finally found the hidden unraveled wire bead damage in the tire, I put a folded dollar bill between the patched tube and damaged tire. That dollar bill trick kept air in the tire long enough to ride back to the Kent support stop and purchase a used tire similar to last years RTC experience.

I will have a folding tire in the spare parts for this years RTC Viva Bike Vegas 2013 Gran Fondo Pinarello along with 3 master links for chain repair on the Red Rock Loop included in this years course. I am going to be better prepared loaded down with a few more spares for this years event.
