New guy question--help please--Cannondale 18/16 size--good fit for captain?
Hi All,
I found a nice Cannondale MT1000 from 1998 for sale. Too far from home to actually sit on it.
I am 5'11".
Research shows it may be too small for me, but then I saw this quote from this site (about an MT1000 from the same era):
I got a 18/16, thats 18" captain (front) and 16" stoker (rear). I easily adjusted the captains seat and stem to accomodate me (5'11").
I rarely see tandems here so I can't try a similar one.......help please--would this be a good fit?
Thank you!
Doug

take the geometry from the tandem and compare it to a single bike that you have or like the fit of at your LBS.

Thank you! I checked this tandem in comparison to my current single--a Fuji Hybrid Absolute 1.7. The top tube length specs are close.
Stand over height (or my Fuji) on the tandem is no problem.
It seems there are a lot of Cannondale frame sizes for sale that are M/S size--just none in my hometown of Raleigh, NC that I could look at.
And I found this on the web--according to this chart from Cannondale, the L/S would be a better fit for me.
I do understand that a tandem that doesn't fit won't be fun!
