Apologies if this is not strictly appropriate for this forum, but I thought it interesting, as it's the only one I've seen advertised

The hills around Brighton, UK are getting a bit tough for our mid-70s legs, etc, so we shall probably go for one of these during our stay next year.

I have no association with this company.

We are in our 60's and are still good for now but I've wondered if something like this could be added to a tandem to give some assistance getting up hills when the time comes? 26" 48V 1000W EBike Front Wheel Electric Bicycle Motor Conversion Kit motor Hub | eBay

A mid-drive electric drive like pictured in the original post is a very good idea. Such systems are available as add-on kits for unpowered tandems and 1/2-bikes. 1000 watts into a front wheel is quite a lot of torque for a poor fork to deal with! Way better to power the back wheel, if you must use a hub motor.

Nice set of components and price for such a bike. I can only assume the choices will get better by the time my team "needs" motor assist.

My Local Replaces the BB & crankset with a Mid drive Motor

Lectric Cycles

Primary customers, here, are Hunters..

You could probably get one fitted for the stoker BB. then use the cross over for the front crank..

Mid drive offer more Torque to climb Hills , Hub motors are more to cover flat ground with less effort.
