Trying to adjust RANS Screamer
Found someone only a mile from my house selling a 2006 RANS Screamer. We have been riding and loving a Trek T900 but I have been kicking around picking up the recumbent.
Does anyone have any suggestions / experience on moving or modifying the stoker's handle grips (underseat and fixed) outwards? They are under my wife's hips, not outside... Kind of unnerving to be the stoker and have nothing to be able to hang onto while riding.
Also trying to figure out the fit for me as captain, my knees are hitting the handlebars.
Or should I just pass...

Assuming that is a standard RANS stoker seat, the grips should be several inches outward from the right and left of the seat base/cushion, not under the seat. If the stokers hands need to be more outward, then MTB barends could be added at right angles to the grips.
Handlebars on a Screamer can be moved upwards by moving the riser higher. And/or the bars can be moved closer to or further away the captain by adjusting the adjustable flex stem or glideflex pivot for the riser/bars.

Thanks for the suggestion of the bar ends. They are to the sides of the seat, but still not far enough out to be useable. (I've been authorized to state the following. "My wife has voluptuous hips.")
Yeah, I probably should just pick it up and start playing with adjusting / modifying to see if I can get things to work.
I should probably just pick it up, try to adjust it, if I can't get it figured out I should be able to get out of it what I have in it next season.

Guessing that the price is a bargain compared to what new ones are selling for now, and no shipping, to boot!
Can probably be made to work for you, as long as you are both within suggested x-seam ranges. Lucky, too, that a test ride should be possible.
You might want to check out the bentrideronline message board for suggestions about fitting - quite a few Screamer owners there.
