Bridgestone for commuting and touring, building a fixed gear
Sizing for stoker
My wife and I have a no-name tandem that was built by a local frame builder. We are the third owners. We're going to buy a new tandem and are looking at CoMotion, Santana, and Burley. Here's the situation on which I'd like to solicit some direction:
Our current tandem is 58cm front 56cm rear.
I'm 6'0" with a short torso and long legs. I ride a 62cm road frame with the shortest reach stem I can find. My road bike fits me very well. On the tandem, I ride with a longer seat post and higher stem.
My wife is 5'11" with a longer torso and shorter legs. (She's about two inches taller than me when we sit side-by-side.) She only rides the tandem. She is comfortable with the saddle/pedal relationship (barely a "fistfull of post") but feels cramped over the top tube, even with her saddle back and bars up under my saddle.
Any recommendations on tandems with more "roomy accomodations" for the stoker?
