My own tandem

My mother has promised me that when me and my sister get married we will receive our own tandems. I'm so looking forward to when that day comes!

I smell a troll...

At first I thought that this thread was poorly written, leaving the writer open to an obvious joke. However, this account has made all of these ridiculous postings today:

'' Currently I eat once every 3 days which has made me rather skinny and decrepid.''
https://www.bikeforums.net/training-nutrition/184763-nutrition.html

''the other day a car knocked me off whilst I was travelling at a rather high speed and I'm worried about suffering an injury in the future''
https://www.bikeforums.net/advocacy-safety/184767-head-protection.html

''Does anyone else have one of these classic bikes? Mine is approximately 43 years old but it still runs as well as ever, it can even keep up with some cars.''
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vintage/184764-baycrest.html

''Just thought I'd let you all know that me and some friends of mine have recently managed to build a track in Whittlesey out of mud. If anyone would like to come along to it feel free.''
https://www.bikeforums.net/track-cycling-velodrome-racing-training-area/184768-my-own-track.html

''I certainly wouldn't use any regular sort of lock, as I can break them open rather easily simply by spraying deodourant in them to freeze the lock and then I simply break it open. If anyone else is as smart as me then your bike is at risk!''

I'm not surprised. Have you ever listened to the nightly news? I recently heard that something like 22% of 8th graders in the U.S. read at that level, and it gets worse from there! If you want to see some well written threads, go to the 50s plus site. I think it illustrates what's happened to our (unionized) education system over the last 30 or so years.

not at all, I hijacked it from poor Liam to start. He was probably hoping for some support and he gets raspberries!!! Liam, let us know when you get that tandem. Although I wouldn't marry my sister just to get one....

That's quite the generalization. There are many factors that determine the reading level for a group of learners. One thing to remember is our public education system must count every student's score -- that means ESL and ELL readers are included.

I encourage you to do more research on the efficacy of our education system -- one place to start is https://nces.ed.gov/ and https://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2006451.

liamgreen:
There will always be an England (atlhough a bit smaller than in it's heyday). . .
However, the US even seems to be expanding: the United States of Mexico . . . et al.
No, she can't cook, but hopefully can make a decent cup'a tea . . . and what kind of tandem is mumsie buying you?

To answer your original query she can cook but usually it's just mashed potatoes and fried bread, not particularly gormet food

In our neighboring jurisdiction (State of Washington), it's called PWI - Posting While Intoxicated.
