Where to sell a tandem
We have a Burley Duet that we bought a few years ago so my wife could captain with my daughter as stoker. Now my daughter is 12 and has her own road bike, and we're thinking of selling the tandem (unfortunatley, due to the sizes, I don't see any way to make it fit my wife and I.
What's the best way to do it? We're in the Seattle area...

Cascade Bike Club has a good forum for selling items. There used to be a few other clubs there also (Evergreen College). Additionally, craigslist (www.craigslist.com) has a local virtual garage sale. I would try those before going the ebay route.
Good Luck.

You'll find links to various on-line classified ad sites here:

Making a kilometer blurry
We bought our Burley off Craigslist (you might consider posting in other cities for a larger audience depending on where you live). We also bid on a couple on eBay, so there's some traffic there too.
In my experience, items get more money off eBay, but the transactions are simpler off Craigslist.

Craigslist
I live in NY City. I advertised a very early model Burley Samba on craigslist sites through out the northeast. I sold it for my asking price, and the buyer came and picked it up. Interestingly, someone was selling an identical Burley on Ebay at the same time, and his starting bid price was the same as my asking price. He didn't get a single bid.
When you use craigslist, you do get a lot of scam offers (I'm vacationing in Angola, but I'll send my agent with a fake money order to pick up the bike). It's funny how the authors of this scam have no idea how transactions work here. No one I know sells stuff this way. But what's not funny (or maybe it is depending on your perspective), is that enough people actually fall for the scam for them to keep doing it (otherwise, why would scammers keep using it).
