Problems shipping a tandem

I've put an offer in on a T100, but it has to be shipped.

It's coming from Temecula California being shipped up here to Ottawa, Canada. I'd look for something local but the price was right on this one. Even with a couple hundred bucks for packing shipping, it comes out to a reasonable price.

From the seller:
"We have run into problems. The bike shop cannot pack the bike securely enough for shipping. The frame stands too tall for the box. I really don’t know what else to do."

I would suggest, of course, that a bike shop that can't put a bike in a box and ship it, probably isn't really trying. (Find a slightly bigger box?)

Anyway, does anyone know any tandem friendly shop in that area that I can direct the seller to?

Thanks,
Greg

Splice 2 single boxes together.
Remove wheels, remove seatpost/saddles, handlebars.
Wrap frame in some bubble wrap or piping foam. Should work just fine.

Hi. I recently bought a Co-Motion tandem from someone in Kentucky...had it packed and shipped to Washington (the state). They put 2 single boxes together. As mentioned above, the removed pedals, handlebars, wheels, seats and stems; then they bubblewrapped it. It arrived without a scratch. The bike shop you mentioned should be able to do the same. Good luck.
