'07 Tennessee Tandem Rally

I posted this to a few lists last week but neglected to share with y'all. Be advised, even though registration has only been "open" since last Wednesday night there are only 15 team spots left to go until the rally is "full" and the waiting list is invoked.

*****************************************

Hosts Tim & Sharon Patterson welcome you to be one of 50 tandem teams at the 5th annual Tennessee Tandem Rally at Alcoa Tennessee on June 1 - 3, 2007.

For those who have not yet experienced it, the Tennessee Tandem Rally's reputation for outstanding rides and breath taking scenery has made it a perennial rally favorite for many of the teams. Add to that an outstanding host facility, a well-stocked hospitality suite, and exceptional Saturday lunch and dinner events and you have all the makings for a great tandeming experience.

You can find more information and links to the downloadable registration form at the TTR Website: http://www.thetandemlink.com/TTR.html

For those who'd rather cut to the chase, here is a direct link to the registration form: http://www.thetandemlink.com/TTR/TTR_Regis.doc

**Please note: Event registration will be limited to paid registrations received from the first 50 teams or 100 registrants, which ever occurs first.

Full details are available at the TTR Web site.

Road trip!

Well, for me and my SO....it was either this or the GA Tandem Rally again. We were in the LaGrange, GA area already for the two day MS 150 last year...so we're packing our bags for TN! Anybody else on this forum going?

Yes, we are going and very excited about it. Will get a chance to meet and say thank you to TandemGeek for his very helpful advice that helped lead my stoker and me to purchase a Calfee Tetra Tetra S/S that should be delivered in early February. Our good friends the Mongolds will be there who also rode in the event last year. I am pleased that Mark did let us know at the point the registrations opened as I have been surprised by how fast they are filling up.
Looking forward to seeing you there Zonker as well.
John

Stoker/wife and I will be attending for the third year. It is a great rally. I have been meaning each year to speak with Tandemgeek, but alas he runs with the "Peaches" and they are a little faster than us. Maybe this year.

Our first year we didn't know anybody and after the Friday afternoon ride (got dropped by above peaches), we actually decided that maybe the Rally thing was not for us. But we came back Saturday morning, met a few people that had similar riding styles to us and we had a blast.

Hope to see everyone there and hope to meet a few new people.

Jack, I hear ya there. The GA Tandem Rally was our first last year and we find ourselves to be middle of the packers. Not slow, and yet not fast...half-fast?

We'll be on the champagne to lemon-lime fade Co-motion Speedster, be sure to say Hi!

John..I'll be looking for you and that Calfee as well, I bet it's sweet!

As for Tandemgeek...I've seen his back (slowly fading away) a number of times!

Registration sent via priority mail today, thanks for the heads up, hope it gets us in under the wire.

We had a blast at the GTR last year in spite of the captain's left arm pain every time we pushed it on the uphills. Luckily it was nothing that a minor triple bypass couldn't fix. We're back now, almost as strong as ever and with a custom S&S Bushnell on order.

A scheduling conflict will keep us from attending GTR this year so we're looking forward to enjoying TTR instead.

GTR is also filling up fast. Per good friend & GTR Director "Roger", they received 27 registrations today which brings their current registrations to 49 of 75 available slots.

Congrats on the bypass & the new Bushnell. Dennis does an exceptional job on the design & fabrication of his tandems and is simply one of the nicest guys in the bike & tandem building business, which is saying something because the tandem building business is filled with a lot of really neat, personable, and passionate folk.

See y'all in Tennessee in June.

Yah! We got in just under the wire! We started tandeming last year and learned about this event too late in the season. Tim's shop is my "NSLBS" (not so local bike shop), he and Sharon have been very encouraging and helpful for us getting our feet wet on our two-seater.

There is some really beautiful riding around east TN. Even though these routes are less than 30 miles from our home, we rarely get to ride them, so this will be new and exciting for us as well. Can't wait to see everyone there! We'll be on our Red Burley Tosa.

Both the Tennessee and Georgia Tandem Rallies hit their registration limits over the weekend.

However, they are still taking names on their waiting lists, noting that there are usually cancellations between now and May that enable folks who missed the initial cut-off to move from the waiting list into firm slots.

Anne and I will be there on our Blue Metalflake bass boat Burley Rivazza. Always a great time at TTR and we look forward to Tim's monster climbs with his Thursday pre-rally fun ride!

Hey David - Real Litespeeds don't have triples and shouldn't wear anything larger than a 25T on the back!

It looks like we made it in the knick of time.

The new bike should be done well in advance so we'll hope to have any minor adjustments dialed in before then.

We're missing the GTR to spend 8 days fishing, diving and relaxing in the Bahamas, there might also be some beer and rum drinks involved.

I suspect we're going to get slaughtered in the TN hills but we've been dropped before and will get dropped again. We're looking forward a new tandem adventure and enjoying every minute of it.

Indeed that was a nice writeup. Far better than the other article posted recently (I can't remember in which thread). Only the part about the duties of the captain and stoker seemed to miss that the captain also pedals. However, I think people that care realize this.

Maybe one day we will be able to attend a rally. This sounds like one I would enjoy.

FWIW, there are a few BF members depicted in the photos that accompany the article.

Thanks to TandemGeek for sharing the link to the article and thanks to Tandemracer for sharing the photo album - It was an outstanding weekend! Last year's TTR was our first rally and this year's was our second and we are looking forward to our first STR this coming September - we'll see you then.

Tennessee Tandem Rally

Tim and Sharon did a wonderful job on routes and hospitality. We met wonderful tandomers and TandemGeek did his magic on my bike. It is now shifting and riding much better than before, and is ALMOST perfect - certainly acceptable and much better than my previous bike.

Looking forward to seeing you TTR'ers in Chattanooga in September.

We had a great time as well at our first TTR. Hosts Tim & Sharon did an outstanding job planning, providing hospitality and putting on a very successful event.

This was also the first time that we had ever encountered anything resembling a real hill. We were very pleased with our performance even if we did have to walk up part of the (optional) 20% grade section on the first day.

Thanks Tim & Sharon and other TTR participants. We'll look forward to riding with you again next year.

Hey all...this was our first TTR as well...heck it was our first tandem rally period The hosts Tim and Sharon did a fantastic job...routes marked well and they matched the cue sheets!! We really had no idea what to expect because we are new to tandem cycling (we've been riding single bikes for over 20 years now) but it was truly a great time....Nice to ride with a bunch o' tandems and their respective teams....I told everyone who would listen at home about how fast we could go in a group of tandems ....Anyway nice meeting everyone and those we didn't get to talk with we will next year....We decided we need to do the STR in Sept so hope to see familiar faces there...
