Wide Road Tires Suggestions
We have a Cannondale road tandem and I'm looking for a wide tire that we could use on unpaved bike paths and gravel roads. It looks like clearance is not too much of an issue. Should I use a 32 or 35? Brand?

Howdy,
We have used these wider road tires and had good luck:
Continental 700x35 "Avenues"
Panaracer 700x32 "Pana Pasela TG"
We have had long life and very few flats.
As my tandem driving skills improved, I have been going to narrower tires.
We still ride some narly gravel roads.
Good Luck,
John

Our KHS Tandemania Comp has 26" wheels but I have Panaracer Pasela 35mm and Pasela Tourguard 32mm(folders with Aramid belt) on two hybrids and they are a good compromise between rugged/forgiving and lightweight/lively.

In early season when our roads are crap... from winters abuse. I also use the Panaracer Pasela. I use the 700 by 32's. So far I have been happy with them. Perspective is interesting though.. I myself would not call them lightweight or lively. My more regular road tire is a Mich. in a 25c. compared to those.. these are not light and lively.

Stock tires on my Novara Big Buzz were some really rugged WTB 700x37. Everything is relative.

Well, I bought a pair of the Panaracer Paselas 700x35s. They lasted about 8 miles. After the second time the back tire blew off the rim at the exact same place on the tire, I examined the bead. The bead had no raised lip on about 6 inches and the outer casing did not go to the edge of the tire. It looked like the outer casing was not aligned with the inner casing when they put it on. The front tire had the same problem so I think they were defective. I sent them back and got some Continental Contacts.
