His & Hers matching jerseys

Let me start by saying that my wife and I are new to tandeming, although we have been avid cyclists for many years and have a pretty good selection of cycling clothes. We have noticed that many tandem couples dress with matching outfits, especially jerseys. We think it looks cool.

Needing a new reason to spend more money on bike clothes, we have been scouring the catalogs and internet sites to look for matching jerseys. She prefers a womans fit jersey as most mens jerseys, well, just don't fit a woman very well. My wife is short waisted so if she gets a mens jersey large enough to fit on top, then it is too long and typically extends below her hips.

Has anybody been successful in finding a source for matching jerseys that come in mens and womans models? If so, where? If not, what do other folks do? I suspect many women compromise and just wear mens jerseys. I guess a seamstress can take a mens jersey and tailor it to fit her better.

Suggestions?

Thanks Mark. Your links page was the first place we went to look. Let me give you a report.

1. Cycle Designs - Dead link

2. Ground effects - I didn't see any mens and womans designs that were similar to each other

3. Kucharik - Nice stuff but website only lists mens sizes. I wrote them an e-mail inquiry but have not heard back from them.

4. Revi - Seems to be a custom jersey business, supplying teams and clubs in large quantities.

5. Urbanek - I think they are out of business. Link sends me to bikeapparel.com.

6. Bikeapparel.com - An industry wide website. Too much to wade through. That's why I posted to the forum - to help me narrow down the search.

Check out VolerWear.com. Donna and I bought our matching USA flag jersey's there. You can see us wearing them in the picture in my profile.

Agree with Zack. Try Volewear

www.velowear.com

We also purchased the flag jerseys to match on the tandem. Fit great after one re-sizing... their mens seemed to run small. Normally wear a loose Large, but exchanged for XL with no problems.

Good Luck, I've done the same searching you've done with little else to choose from on the net.

Sorry about that.... I'll do some clean-up.

In the mean time:

You can work backwards from Team Estrogen's Web site, i.e., find women's apparel that appeals to your beloved and then go to that manufacturer (find them using Google.com or Bikeapparel.com ) to see if they have matching or coordinated jerseys for men.

Kucharick should come through for you. Quite a few teams have the matching Kokopelli Tandem jersey and I believe they have two other tandem-specific designs. (Unisex-sized & Kids)

Primal Wear

AeroTech Designs (Unisex-sized)

Young Originals will make cycling apparel for what many others charge for off-the-rack.

We started off with Primal Wear jerseys since they offered unusual designs in a variety of styles. However, since I get a new local cycling team jersey every year we have slowly retired all the PW stuff and Debbie either wears a matching team jerseys/jacket/vest when it's cool or one of her lightweight sleeveless tops, i.e., in the summer it's rare to find us in anything that matches.

Check out your local bikes shops to see what they have hanging around. I've always liked the "local flavor" that LBS sponsored cycling team jerseys have and in many cases you don't have to be a member of the team to buy the jerseys.

I realize they my case is very unique but I thought I might put it out here for what it's worth..

My mom and I have been tandeming now going into the 3rd year, we have some jersey's that we get thru the Rallies and stuff like that that we go to, but the bulk of ours, are made by my Mom..So she can make them to size, I just have to find the color and print that her and I want...I know that I am VERY blessed and lucky to have that in my Mom, and I know that, but I put this out there for those who either sew or know somebody who is willing or able to do that...But if that's not the case, I'm sure that the links provided and suggested by others here on this forum, probably would turn up something for you guys....I know there has to be suppliers out there that offer like the people at this year's STR (southern tandem rally) two types of fit for people, they are offering a "club fit" and a "race fit" for both men and women, that way people have a choice based on what they like and what fits them, so they have to be out there, it's just a matter of who and where they are..
