first tandem

researching for our first tandem purchase. Lots of info on the web. Bikes from Thorn and Dawes look promising and close to our 1000 dollar budget...yeah I know thats not much.
Looking for suggestions. we live in sweden and have really just begun to look around.

Given your budget, a second-hand tandem could be your best bet. Here are some links to classified ad sites for tandems:

Tandem Fahren (Germany)
http://tandem-fahren.de/Kleinanzeigen/

Tandem Club of France
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/tandem.club.de.france/

Tandem Club (UK)
http://www.tandem-club.org.uk/_sboard.htm

Tandem Club of America (USA)
http://www.tandemclub.org/classifieds.html

Tandem Magazine Web Site (USA)
http://www.tandemmag.com/classified

You could also post "wanted to buy" memos to the classified ads or message boards for these clubs.

"houdini" on the oregon coast!
we went through the same process. budget of $1200
and by word of mouth...a cycling shop recommended a friend who was selling a tandem. it was a good buy!

ten years later, we still ride "houdini" on extended tours.
