Indoor TT & Who does the most work
Haley and I did an indoor, 10k, time trial today. We were the last bike to go and ended up having to ride the course solo. The course had a fair amount of climbing with the three hardest hills being 3%. I know 3% isn't much, but it still hurt. I didn't think our time was very good at something a little over 18.5 min., but we'll see how we did tomorrow when the results come out. I know the fast time was around15.5 min. Here's a shot of the set up.
This next shot got me to laughing when we got home and I seen it. It seems to me that someone in this picture is working just a little harder than the other. Haley tells me that her effort was greater than mine by far, I'm not so sure. Please excuse the winter time fuzzy leg warmers.
At least she had fun and gave me the green light to sign up for next months TT.
By the way, I think we averaged 292 watts over the whole course. Don't really know what that means but at least we have a number to shoot for in the next one.

Ride it like you stole it
Haley sounds a lot like my daughter, who claims she is doing the bulk of the work as the stoker. I always have to agree, if not she stops doing any work.

It's going to vary by weight of course, but most Cat 5's could do 300 watts for 18 minutes by themselves.
If you're interested in training with power and what the Watts mean, buy Training and Racing with Power by Allen and Coggan.

Honestly, if the 292 watts is accurate (and that's definitely an if), I don't think you were getting any help from her. Do you know your functional threshold power?
