Rented a tandem at the Keukenhof, Netherlands. Rode out to the dunes on a tandem with a 3 speed internal hub that would change gears every time we hit a bump, but was still one of our best rides in years.
We were blown away by the quality of the bike routes and the number of bikes out there.

Here are a couple more shots from the Santana Sonoma Tandem Rally earlier this month.
Climbing Franz Road 14% grade near the top on the ride from Geyerville to Calistoga, Napa. We are the couple in front. We met the other couple on the Burgundy Provence Santana tour last year.
This pic is in Sonoma courtesy of Eugene Benosky Photography.

I took the day from work so my wife and I could ride the Trail of the Coeur D Alene's in Idaho. We have a Periscope Torpedo and at the end of our ride while enjoying lunch three other Co-motion periscope tandems went cruising on by. They were loaded for touring and each had a young child as a stoker. I wish they would have stopped at the trail head so we all could of taken a photo. Something like that will never happen again! But I do have a pic from todays ride. It was a little chilly on the start but warmed up nicely later in the day.

Gettysburg Weekend
We rode to Gettysburg this weekend riding a loop going through Hanover on Saturday and then through East Berlin on the return Sunday. The stoker was not happy with my selection of going through Hanover as we experienced more then a thousand feet of additional climbing. She is having knee surgery latter this month but riding hasn't been bothering her. This is 10 miles in after our breakfast. We always chuckle when people are so shocked that we are riding 60 miles on a bike. I guess we all have different perspectives.

Hook 'em young! My daughter and me on our first ride on a tandem I built in my garage. I probably won't paint it because I'd like to tweak the design and try again.

Napa Wine Country Century 2014
Great ride through the wine country Napa, Sonoma......some of the most beautiful rolling vineyards to be seen.....well supported and rest stops every 20 miles or so.....probably the most pleasurable century we have been on.

Also, good to see the youngster on the twicer. My son is now 3.5 years old and big enough to go on the back of our Fuji with kiddy-cranks. Tolerates rides 25-30km long if there's a break along the way. (He has a lovely pedalling style, identical to mine!) How far does your grandson ride with you?

Thanks! That's a tele lens so her nose isn't really in my back. She's totally comfy like that. A thing of interest to me in that photo is the tire deflection: 25mm PRO4E tires at 110 lbs. with ~340 lbs. load on them. Looks good to me. I also liked the same flat foot on both of us. Other photos showed that foot angle all the way to the bottom of the stroke. We were so happy with the Camelbaks in the 95° heat! Only had to stop every 50 miles and refill. I'd have mine empty by then. The insulated water bottles have liquid food in them.

Eastern Tandem Rally in Vermont
A couple pics from new friends at the ETR last weekend in Vermont. Awesome people, roads, food and weather, not to mention beer and stories
Looking forward to next year and more great rides with my ace stoker Jen!

Clipless in Coeur d'Alene
A few fun pics from our cruise yesterday. This is along the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes to Harrison and bridge south of town. Over a 55 mile ride, total elevation change was 276ft due to bridge x2 and Harrison x2, which would otherwise have been near zero ft climbing. Really nice for steady state riding or a casual day.

We actually drove past yesterday on our way from Missoula to Vancouver and were just itching to ride. Hope to come back this fall when temps a bit cooler. When does the dry weather end around there?

Clipless in Coeur d'Alene
It's usually fairly dry into mid-October, but will feel the fall air in mid-Sept.
