Help pricing a tandem
I suggested half-seriously to a co-worker that I had a tandem for sale. Well...It looks like he may be interested and has asked for a price. It is a small-frame Gary Fisher Gemini about 15 years old with 7-speed Shimano Deore and thumb shifters. As I recall, we paid about $1400 new and I'm thinking that I should ask somewhere between $400 and $600 for it. If I give him a range, he will of course assume that I will take the lesser amount. What do you think a fair price would be for this tandem:

Thanks.

Looks in pretty good shape. I'd ask $600.
Somewhere around here there is a link to used tandem pricing. Also you could check completed auctions on Ebay, but not likely to find a lot of very close comparables.

The creator of the tool I'm sure can tell you more

Whatever you think you need to get out of it to feel like you got a fair return. Again, fair market is based on what else someone could buy for the same amount of money that's new, less depreciation and/or any premium that might be warranted for a somewhat rare bike.
A Gary Fisher Gemini in as good of shape as that one is somewhat like an Ibis Cousin IT: By today's standards they're not cutting edge, but they're certainly a lot more interesting and better quality than anything else you could buy for even $900 - $1000 MSRP new today.
So, if you're looking for top dollar you could put out there on the Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange (The CABE) and be patient or, if you've enjoyed the bike and would just like to clear out some space in the garage and give someone else a chance to experience tandeming, price it where you can let it go without any regrets, which is probably near the top of the range you specified. In fact, if you really want $600, ask $675 - $650 just to give yourself some negotiating room.

Have only seen a couple Fisher tandems . . . this uptube tandem looks to be in excellent condition. I'd start at $750 and go from there.
A Fisher product is quality . . . and it shows!
Pedal on TWOgether!
