Don't take this the wrong way, but I think you'll be hard pressed to use a figure of $9k as the cost basis for a Santana Sovereign regardless of how you have outfitted it. For reference purposes, MSRP for a basic Sovereign is $4,395 and $5,995 for the Team Al model which is comparable to what you have described. $9k is about what you'd pay for a new, all-carbon Calfee TetraTetra outfitted with similar equipment to what you have described. You can find the complete specs. for the 2002 Santana tandems on line at Gear-to-Go Tandems: http://www.gtgtandems.com/specs2000/sanroad2002.html

In my estimation, at this point you would do better by selling off the components and frame, ala carte via Ebay or rec.bicycles.marketplace if your goal is to recoup as much of your investment as possible. A complete bicycle is almost always worth less than the sum of its parts.

That said, if you are curious about how you would go about determining "fair market value" for your tandem I have developed a spreadsheet tool and a companion article that you can use to establish some ballpark pricing.

You can also find links to some of the more popular classified ad sites that tandem shoppers frequent.

    Good luck.

    Santana

Thanks for getting back to me
True enough but when you buy a new santana the true weigh is about 38-42lbs to get the weigh down t what I have gotten it down to cost money my only hope is to find the right buyer that only wants the best. If not your idea of parting out is a good one.
